Walter Edward Briggs enlisted with C Company, 33rd Battalion AIF on the 12th of January 1916 and was an original member of the Battalion and left
Sydney on board HMAT A74 "Marathon" on the 4th of May 1916.

Informant; PrivATE: 711 Walter Edward BRIGGS I am sorry to see that Captain: Charles Henry LINKLATER
is missing. he was a fine officer, a fine chap, one of the very best. No dought he was a fine chap.

NOTE: Captain: LINKLATER'S name appears in German Death List.
Returned to Australia on board the "Persic" on the 14th of February 1918 and was discharged from the AIF on the 9th of August 1918 as
Medically Unfit.
Walter was a married 33 year old Labourer from Bukkulla Villiage, Inverell, N.S.W upon enlistment.
