On the night of May 28th/29th 1917, in a raid on enemy's trenches at ST YVES, 2nd Lieut K.J.CAMPBELL led the main Storming Party with marked fearlessness and great coolness. He was the first to enter the enemy's trenches and the last to leave them. Throughout the operation he displayed splendid leadership, and set a very fine example to his men who hold him in very high esteem. Prior to the night of the raid he spent much time in NO MAN'S LAND and on the one night entered the enemy's trenches. (Raiding Party, 2 Officers, 52 Others)
