INFORMATION

Ralph Fry Clarence enlisted with D Company, 33rd Battalion AIF on the 10th January 1916 and was an original member of the Battalion and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A74 "Marathon" on the 4th May 1916.

Informant; Lance Corporal: 1098 Ralph Fry CLARENCE.   Private: 1985 Alan James MATHER was killed during a charge at Plug Street Wood on June 8th 1917. We were near each other and crossing No Mans Land when a shell exploded near MATHER, killing him instantly. He was carried back and should be buried in one of the cemeteries just behind the line. I left the line wounded during the same day. We were in the same company and knew each other well.

Death Cert:31666/1961. Alton Kingsley Clarence born 1893 at Grafton, N.S.W. Birth Cert:15131/1893 and died and died in 1955 at Newcastle, N.S.W. Death Cert:13869/1955. Ralf Clarence born 1898 at Grafton, N.S.W. Birth Cert:12257/1898. Marie Clarence born 1898 at Grafton, N.S.W. birth Cert:12256/1903.

His brother Lieutenant: 1095 Edgar Aubrey CLARENCE. 33rd Battalion AIF.

His father Percy was born in 1856 and died in 1930 in Sydney, N.S.W. Death Cert:333/1930. his mother Marie died in 1925 at McLean, N.S.W. Death Cert:3789/1925.

Ralph also served during World War 2, enlisting at Wolloomoollo, N.S.W.
