Died: 1967. Turramurra, New South Wales, Australia. Death Cert:38614/1967.
Ernest Albert Fraser enlisted with the 1st Reinforcements, 36th Battalion A.I.F and
left Sydney on board HMAT A72 "Beltana" on the 13th of May 1916. Ernest returned to Australia on
the 25th of November 1917 with the 36th Battalion.
4th September 1917.
Informant; Corporal: 1647 Ernest Albert Fraser, 9th Light Trench Mortor Battery. Refer to
Lieutenant Colonel: Leslie James MORSHEAD Officer Commanding 33rd Battalion
who is still in France and who received word that Captain: Charles Henry LINKLATER
was wounded and that he was a Prisoner of War in Germany.

4th October 1917.
Informant; Corporal: 1647 Ernest Albert Fraser, 9th Light Trench Mortor Battery.
I saw Private: 14 John AYRE killed at PLOEGSTREET WOOD by an explosion,
death was instantaneous. He was buried at the rear of PLOEGSTREET WOOD. I did not see his grave.
I knew him well, he was attached to the 9th L.T.M. Battery.
3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, DARTFORD, England.
Ernest was a single 23year old Wood Machinist from 280 Elswick Street, Leichardt, N.S.W prior
to enlistment. His Aunt was his next of Kin who lived at 19 Whiting Street, Leichardt.
