Informant; Private: 1136 William Naomi HALL We had just reached our objective during the battle of Messines when Private: 1276 Hampton WILLIS was shot by a sniper. I saw him carried out and did not see him again. He and I were snipers to the Battalion and used to work together.

William returned to Australia on the 31st October 1917 suffering from Shell Shock and continued treatment at the No:4 Australian Gereral Hospital. Randwick, N.S.W. He had his War Pension Claim rejected on the 25th of April 1918 and married Kate Hall in 1918 and died later that year.

William was a single 25 year old Labourer from Manilla, N.S.W. upon enlistment. His father was his next of kin and lived at Court Street, Manilla, N.S.W.
