William Edward Phifer enlisted with C Company, 33rd Battalion AIF on the 1st of February 1916 and was an original
member of the Battalion, he embarked on board HMAT A74 "Marathon" on the 4th May 1916. Attended sniper School.
William was Gassed on the 18th April 1918 at villers-Bretonneux.

He was Wounded in Action; 2nd occassion on the on the 3rd October 1918 near the Hindenburg Line.
william was a single 23 year old Labourer from Kiaora, Ashford, N.S.W prior to enlistment.
