Lionel Eric Randall enlisted with B Company 33rd Battalion AIF on the 3rd of January 1916 and was an original member of the Battalion and left Sydney on board HMAT A74 "Marathon" on the 4th of May.

Lance Corporal: 544 Lionel Eric RANDALL. 33rd Battalion AIF. During the period 16th September, 1918, Driver RANDALL has rendered most effecient service with the Regimental Transport. He has displayed great courage, resoursefulness, initiative to duty, particularly during active operations, and has at all times handled his team with great skill and judgment. He has shown very great care with his animals and equiptment. his example to his comrades has been most beneficial and inspiring.
