INFORMATION

Leslie George king Ross enlisted with the 11th Reinforcements, 29th Battalion AIF on the 19th July 1916 and left Sydney on board HMAT "Afric". Leslie became an Instructor in the Bombing School at LYNDHURST, England after he was promoted to Lieutenant on the 8th of February 1918.

Leslie Died of Pneumonia at the 4th Stationary Hospital at Arques, France on the 9th of November 1918.

Family Information

Leslie was a 19 year old Law Clerk from Glen Innes upon enlistment. He was a decendent of Gidley King, Third Governor of New South Wales. His Step Father Perry Phipps Abbott was a Federal Member of Parliment. His Parents Colin and Elizabeth Ross had at least 3 children. Gordon King Ross born 1893 at Tamworth, N.S.W. Birth Cert:34541/1893. Eileen E A Ross born 1895 at Tamworth, N.S.W. Birth Cert:17234/1895. Leslie George King Ross born 1897 at Tamworth, N.S.W. Birth Cert:35751/1897 and died in 1918 at Arques, France.
