INFORMATION

William Rower enlisted on the 24th of April 1917 with the 10th Reinforcements 53rd Battalion AIF and left Sydney on board HMAT A28 "Miltiades" on the 2nd of August 1917. During the voyage to England William was admitted to Hospital whilst At Sea on board HMAT A28 "Miltiades" on the 26th of September 1917 and disembarked at Glasgow Scotland and was admitted to the 3rd Scottish General Hospital on the 3rd of October 1917.

William proceeded overseas to France to reinforce the 33rd Battalion with D Company on the 5th of December 1918 He was taken on strength in the field ex 53rd Battalion on the 12th of February 1918. William was Wounded in Action on the 18th of April 1918. William suffered from Severe Shell Gass

William returned to Australia on the 3rd of July 1919 with the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion.

Williams British War Medal 75819 and Victory Medal 72377 to PTE W.ROWE 33 BN AIF was acquired from PHEONIX AUCTIONS of Western Australia in April 2006 and are now in the collection.
