Died: 1955. Mosman, New South Wales, Australia. Death Cert:2587/1955
Soren Frank Sorensen was transfered to B Company 33rd Battalion AIF on the 23rd of February
1916 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was promoted to Lieutenant on the 1st of May and left
Sydney onboard HMAT A74 "Marathon" on the 4th of May 1916 and disembarked at Devonport, England on
the 9th of July. soren was promoted to Captain on the 1st of August and transfered to MESSING
SCHOOL at Weymouth on the 12th of October before peoceeding overseas on the 21st of Novemver 1916.
Soren was taken on strength with the 33rd Battalion ni France and was Wounded in
Action on the 7th of June 1917 during the battle at MESSINES RIDGE in Belgium where
he received a Severe Gun-Shot Wound to the Right Knee and was admitted
to the 35th General Hospital at Caleia. Soren was invalided to England on the 10th of June and
admitted to the 4th Southern General Hospital at Plymouth.
He was discharged from hospital to Weymouth on the 2nd of September and embarked onboard HMAT A..
"Ulyanes" on the 10th of September 1917 and arrived back in Australia on the 10th of September 1919,
and was discharged on the 2nd of February 1918.
Soren served with the U S Marine corps from the 18th August 1894 to the 6th of February 1906 as
Staff Sergeant Major and the Transtional Staff from 7th February 1906 until he was transfered to
the 33rd Battalion. Soren became a British Subject in Melbourne, Victoria on the 11th of March 1905.
Ethel Maude Sorensen Died in 1957 at Goulburn, N.S.W. Death Cert:3314/1957.
